CHICHAWATNI:

Police have gunned down alleged six inter-district robbers in three separate encounters over the past 72 hours as part of a zero-tolerance policy, officials said on Friday.

The operations were carried out under the supervision of Sahiwal District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Usman Tipu, who has directed strict enforcement against criminal gangs operating in the region.

Police said the encounters were the result of swift response and professional coordination by the force.

In the first incident, within the jurisdiction of Chichawatni Saddar police station, robbers opened fire on police personnel, injuring Constable Saqlain. During the exchange, one suspect, identified as Sadi Ahmad, son of Ramzan, a resident of Okara, was killed by gunfire from his own accomplices.

Police said the deceased had been wanted in several cases registered in Sahiwal, Pakpattan, and Okara. Five of his associates fled the scene, prompting an extensive search operation.

During this search operation, the fleeing suspects again opened fire on police, injuring ASI Muhammad Aslam.
