E-challan system for traffic violations goes live in Rawalpindi
Kacheri Chowk, Rawalpindi
The e-challan system for traffic law violations has been activated in Rawalpindi from Saturday, with the automated ticketing mechanism now linked to the Safe City Command and Control Centre.
Under the new system, vehicle owners will receive e-challans along with photographs of the violation and a code, with fines required to be deposited within the specified timeframe. The e-challan system has been integrated with the Safe City Command and Control Centre, enabling automated CCTV cameras to issue challans for traffic violations across the city.

Automatic fines will be issued for traffic signal violations, while instant e-challans will also be generated for motorcyclists riding without helmets, lane violations, and mobile phone use while driving.
Similarly, automated action will be taken against non-standard and illegal number plates. As soon as a violation is recorded, a challan will be issued and dispatched to the violator's home address.
