KARACHI:

Singer and actor Farhan Saeed has opened a major new chapter in his career with the launch of 'Khat', the first single and title track from his long-awaited debut solo album, marking a milestone more than two decades in the making.

The track, released across major streaming platforms, signals Saeed's transition into a fully independent musical phase after years of leading chart-topping singles, drama soundtracks and band projects that helped establish him as one of the country's most recognisable pop voices.

Sharing the song on Instagram with the caption "KHAT is yours now", Saeed triggered an immediate wave of fan engagement, with the announcement rapidly circulating across Pakistani entertainment circles as listeners praised the project's intimate tone and personal storytelling.

'Khat' was written, performed and produced by Saeed himself, offering what he describes as a direct message from artist to audience, continuing a theme he has underscored in recent interviews about wanting to build a deeper connection with long-time supporters.

The music direction for the track is handled by Muhammad Hassan Abbas and Qasim Dahir, who have crafted a sound that Saeed and his team describe as soulful, modern and refreshing, blending contemporary production with the melodic sensibilities that shaped his earlier work.

The music video for 'Khat' has gone live on YouTube, while the audio is streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer and other major platforms, giving the release broad accessibility from the moment of launch.

Saeed has also confirmed that his debut album comprises 10 tracks in Urdu and Punjabi, with a planned rollout of one new song every month, a strategy designed to maintain listener anticipation throughout the year-long release cycle. Among the tracks listed for the album are 'Beparwah', 'Phul Ghulab Da', 'Manzar', 'Meri Maa', 'Ja Vey Mahiya', 'Ameer Ban Jaun', 'Tere Naal', 'Ye Kia Ho Gya' and 'Na Kar Majboor', several of which will receive full music videos.

The album announcement earlier this month was accompanied by artwork from visual artist Umair Fayyaz, who created a series of painted notebook-style sketches, giving each track a distinct identity and setting the tone for the project's introspective theme.

Saeed described the album as "a letter from my heart to yours", emphasising that the project reflects personal experiences and memories accumulated over his 21-year journey in the music industry, from his days with Jal to his solo evolution. In a recent conversation with Variety, Saeed said the album was inspired by fans who had remained connected to him across multiple phases of his career, noting that their support shaped the emotional direction of the music.

The project is being released under Warner Music and Silent Roar's global distribution network, positioning Saeed to reach audiences beyond South Asia and potentially marking one of the most widely distributed Pakistani pop albums to date.

After years of delivering hit singles and acclaimed drama anthems, Saeed's decision to pursue a solo album has been regarded by industry observers as a long-anticipated move that may define his next chapter as both singer and songwriter. With 'Khat' now released and the remaining tracks scheduled in monthly intervals, fans and followers have begun to treat the album as an unfolding narrative, eager to see how each instalment builds on Saeed's new creative direction.
