Light upon Light; art dedicated to Quranic verses
An exhibition dedicated to the Quranic verses about divine light, Noorun-ala-Noor, (Light upon Light) opened at the Koel Gallery on Tuesday.
Curated by Alfiya Abbas Ali, the exhibition brings together works from 17 artists worldwide, exploring the spiritual metaphor of divine light through painting, calligraphy, sacred geometry, textile art, and installations.
CM Murad Ali Shah, welcomed by Dawat-e-Hadiyah's Kamal Younus and the Radiant Arts team, toured 19 display corners after the ribbon-cutting ceremony. He said: "This exhibition is a remarkable blend of creativity and spirituality."
The exhibition's central theme draws from the famous Ayat al-Nur (Surah Al-Nur, 24:35), portraying the journey from darkness to light. Other works reference Quranic verses such as "Allah is the Protector of believers; He brings them out of darkness into light" (2:257), and Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:55) symbolic of radiant illumination.
Radiant Arts-Anwar al-Funun-is a women-led, non-profit platform of the Dawoodi Bohra community, promoting Islamic and cultural heritage through art.
