LAHORE:

A nilgai that had apparently strayed into Pakistan from India was captured by residents of the Narowal border area on Tuesday.

According to initial information, the healthy adult nilgai was spotted in Karyal, a border village in Narowal district.

Local residents caught it shortly after it wandered into the settlement.

They said the animal had most likely crossed over while fleeing hunters or searching for food and lost its way before entering Pakistani territory. A local resident said while speaking to The Express Tribune that the residents had tried to contact the Punjab Wildlife Department helpline regarding the matter but had not received a response.
