RAWALPINDI:

The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has failed to achieve the November tax target for the new financial year 2025–26.

The performance of the Rawalpindi division remained highly disappointing.

The director general has issued reprimand notices to all AETOs and inspectors in the division.

From November 1 to 15, the department collected only Rs573,39,149 in total revenue. Of this, property tax contributed just Rs19.25 million. The Motor Branch, however, managed to uphold the department's standing by collecting Rs38 million across the division.

Despite being a major tourist district and a significant revenue hub, Murree collected only Rs183,145.

In Rawalpindi district, property tax collection stood at Rs17.56 million and the Motor Branch at Rs310 million.

In Attock district, property tax contributed Rs0.9 million and vehicle registration Rs3.4 million. Chakwal district generated Rs229,471 in property tax and Rs2.49 million in vehicle registration. In Jhelum district, the office collected Rs365,441 in property tax and Rs350,000 in vehicle registration fees.

The department has suffered a 65 per cent deficit in the first five months of the fiscal year.
