RAWALPINDI:

Former Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Iqbal Sanghera, arrested in a corruption case, escaped from Rawalpindi police custody.

Following orders from the city police officer, a case has been registered against four police personnel, including the Chakri Police Station's Assistant Sub-Inspector.

The accused was being transferred from Rawalpindi to Lahore and managed to escape from the Chakri Motorway rest area.

The FIR was filed on the complaint of Judicial Guard Inspector Muhammad Asghar.

According to police, the case of Sanghera's escape has been registered against ASI Zafar Iqbal, Constable Yasir, Ahmed Bilal and Moharram Shehzad. The FIR invokes Section 155-C of the Police Order, along with Sections 223, 224 and 225 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Sanghera had been brought from Lahore to Rawalpindi for a court appearance in a corruption case registered three years ago. During the return journey to Lahore, he went to use the washroom at the Chakri motorway service area, where his brother—already present at the location—took him away in a vehicle.

Six unidentified persons were also with him.
