Nicki Minaj is set to address the United Nations this week alongside US officials to discuss the ongoing violence targeting Christians in Nigeria.

The Grammy-nominated rapper will appear with US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz at a high-level conference in New York, where speakers will highlight killings, abductions, and attacks on Christian communities.

The event, organized by Waltz with help from Trump advisor Alex Bruesewitz, brings together diplomats, faith leaders, and celebrity advocates to raise awareness and encourage international action.

Minaj shared on social media that she felt “grateful to be entrusted with an opportunity of this magnitude” and emphasized the importance of religious freedom.

Minaj has drawn attention for sharing President Donald Trump’s statement labeling Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” over the targeting of Christians. Trump’s post attributed the violence to “radical Islamists” and said thousands of Christians had been killed. Minaj echoed his concerns, writing, “No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion.”

The situation has been met with mixed responses. Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Maitama Tuggar denied claims of religious persecution, describing them as false.

Meanwhile, Nigerian Senator Orji Uzor Kalu acknowledged that violence is occurring, saying, “Nigerians are being killed, whether they are Christians or Muslims.”

The UN event marks a rare intersection of pop culture, politics, and human rights advocacy, with Minaj using her platform to bring global attention to the issue.
