Imaan terms 27th Amendment ‘threat to judiciary’
.

Human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari has said that the recently approved 27th Amendment is aimed at creating lifetime acceptability for top positions and has further weakened an already fragile judicial structure.
Speaking at a public assembly on political rights, she argued that the amendment has raised serious concerns about judicial independence, as every judge will now face the constant threat of transfer, restricting the space for independent decision-making.
Imaan said it was essential to inform citizens about the implications of the amendment, noting that any judge who rules against the government may face consequences under the new arrangement.
