Fire at restaurant claims life of young worker
A blaze broke out late Sunday night at a barbecue restaurant in Delhi Mercantile Society leaving one worker dead.
According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson, the fire erupted at Sheikh Abdul Ghaffar Kabab House located within the jurisdiction of Ferozabad Police Station, near Tariq Road.
A rescue vehicle and police reached the site immediately and began firefighting operations. As the flames intensified, two additional fire tenders were called in.
During the operation, firefighters rescued 18-year-old Sajjad Sadiq, who had suffered severe burns. He was rushed to Civil Hospital's Burns Ward by ambulance, but according to Edhi officials, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Rescue 1122 teams battled the blaze for three hours before finally extinguishing it and completing the cooling process. The spokesperson said initial reports suggest the fire was triggered by an air-conditioner compressor explosion on the restaurant's first floor. However, the final cause will be determined after a detailed investigation.
Furniture and other items on the first floor were completely destroyed in the fire.
