Court clerk among two crushed by train

FAISALABAD:

A court clerk committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train while an elderly woman was crushed to death by a train when she was trying to cross a railway tack, in a separate incident.

Samanabad police said the deceased was identified as Muhammad Hafeez, a resident of Mohalla Sheikhanwala. Hafeez had been employed as a clerk with a lawyer at the district courts. On Saturday, he reportedly went to the Samanabad railway crossing, where he jumped in front of a train. The impact caused severe mutilation and police recovered the remains from the track.

Eyewitnesses informed authorities after which rescue teams and police reached the scene.

The body was taken into custody for medico-legal procedures. After completing the necessary documentation, police handed the remains over to Hafeez's family.

Investigators say the reason behind the young man's decision remains unknown, as no suicide note or prior complaint has surfaced so far.
