Father of man accused of killing cop shot dead
Victim's son alleges attack orchestrated by late inspector's son

In what police describe as a suspected revenge attack, the father of a man accused of killing a police inspector earlier this year was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Lahore's Chuhng area on Saturday.
Jameel, 53, was transporting sand in a trolley along LDA Avenue when the attackers opened fire, according to police reports. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Authorities have registered a first information report (FIR) at Chung police station under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The complainant, Muhammad Arshad, Jameel's son, alleged in the FIR that the killing was orchestrated by Babar Khan Niazi, son of the late Inspector Saifullah Niazi, along with unidentified accomplices.
Arshad claimed the motive stemmed from enmity following his brother Adeel's involvement in Inspector Niazi's murder in January 2025.
Police have transferred Jameel's body to a morgue for postmortem examination and initiated an investigation, though no arrests have been made so far.
The attack appears linked to a prior case in which Adeel, a motor mechanic, fatally shot Inspector Niazi outside his residence in Shera Kot on January 21.
Earlier reports indicate that Adeel confessed to the crime, citing repeated humiliation and verbal abuse by the inspector as the trigger. Inspector Niazi, who was in charge of the Babu Sabu checkpost, had reportedly clashed with Adeel over parking issues near his workshop adjoining the inspector's home.
Adeel allegedly used Niazi's service pistol in the shooting and was arrested shortly after.
At the time, Babar Khan Niazi claimed that Adeel harboured a grudge against his father over the parking dispute and acted in retaliation, while Adeel maintained that he had endured mistreatment during years of performing errands for the inspector.
The case drew widespread attention and raised concerns over police conduct and public interactions.
Police officials have not commented on the latest allegations against Babar Khan Niazi, stating that the investigation is ongoing.
