A new route has been announced for Karachi’s women-only Pink Bus Service, operating from Abdullah Chowk to Numaish starting November 17, 2025. Dedicated travel timings have also been set to make commuting safer and more convenient for the city’s women.

Provincial Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced the details on Saturday. He said that the Pink Bus will be available at three specific times throughout the day, from 8am to 9am, 1pm to 2pm, and 5pm to 7pm.

In the service, which is dedicated exclusively to women, their comfort and safety during travel will be prioritised, Sharjeel said. He added that, “this service will help reduce the difficulties women face during daily travel in a large city Karachi”.

The buses will have security, tracking systems, and trained staff, the minister noted, adding that the Sindh Government plans to expand the service to other areas in the future.

Sharjeel stated that it is the government's goal to provide women with reliable and safe commute options, allowing them to pursue their education and careers with greater ease.

“This is a meaningful move towards a safe urban environment for women, and the Sindh Government will continue taking measures to provide such facilities for women in the future,” Sharjeel said.

Early last year, the government added 18 new buses to the Pink Fleet. Once the service became operational, it was an instant hit among the city’s women.

With the fare set at Rs50, and girls under the age of five able to travel free of charge, the Pink Bus added a much-needed commute option for Karachi’s women.

The second phase of the Pink Scooty Scheme is also to start soon, it was announced early this month. This initiative, too, seeks to empower the city’s women in their mobility and independence.
