Black Panther 3 reportedly titled 'Shadows of Wakanda' as new details emerge
Black Panther 3 may be titled 'Shadows of Wakanda', with Shuri leading a vulnerable nation after T’Challa’s death

Rumours surrounding Black Panther 3 have intensified following reports that the upcoming Marvel Studios film will be titled Black Panther: Shadows of Wakanda.
The information reportedly comes from a Production Weekly listing, which includes the working title and a brief synopsis. According to the description, the sequel “will explore Wakanda’s vulnerability after T’Challa’s death, with Shuri stepping up as both warrior and leader.”
Director Ryan Coogler returns for the third instalment following Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which introduced Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, as the new Black Panther. The 2022 film addressed the death of King T’Challa, a decision made after the passing of actor Chadwick Boseman in 2020.
Marvel has not yet confirmed a release date, though industry sources, including reporter Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic podcast, have suggested that Black Panther 3 may target a February 2028 release.
The timeline would place the film after Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, both of which are expected to explore multiversal storylines that could influence the direction of the franchise.
Casting details remain unconfirmed. Letitia Wright is expected to reprise her role as Shuri, alongside returning cast members such as Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, and Lupita Nyong’o.
Actor Denzel Washington has also confirmed that director Ryan Coogler has written a role for him, though the character’s identity has not been revealed.
There are also persistent rumours that Marvel could introduce an alternate version of T’Challa through the multiverse, with actor Damson Idris having expressed interest in the role.
Black Panther: Shadows of Wakanda is expected to continue the story of Wakanda’s leadership and resilience in a post-T’Challa era within the evolving Marvel Cinematic Universe.
