Kpop group SEVENTEEN 's member Vernon has rcome under the spotlight after controversial posts allegedly made by his mother emerged online.

The controversy began when an account with the same name as Vernon’s mother wrote a post discussing HYBE, SEVENTEEN' label Pledis Entertainment, and BTS, admitting that “BTS built the company that was able to buy Pledis" adding that HYBE used SEVENTEEN to “offset income loss during BTS’s enlistment period.”

Soon afterwards, netizens discovered other posts by the same account, engaging with political opinions that seemingly supported conservative figures like Charlie Kirk and US President Donald Trump, whose campaign she allegedly donated to in 2023.

One of the posts that drew backlash from fans was her response to a post defending Zohran Mamdani, the new Muslim mayor-elect of New York City. Many felt that her remarks were Islamophobic as they equated Muslims with felons.

While some fans condemned the Vernon for remaining silent, others defended him, stating that an individual should not be held accountable for their parent’s opinions.

The issue has fuelled debate about idols’ personal lives and public accountability.
