HYDERABAD:

Two police officials, manning a check post, were gunned down in the Bhirya Road area of Noushehro Feroze district on Tuesday night.

The martyred policemen Ghulam Hussain Rajpar and Saeed Solangi were attacked by eight unidentified assailants, according to the FIR registered at Bhirya Road police station on the state's complaint.

Speaking to the media at Namaz-e-Janaza of the martyrs, the IG Ghulam Nabi Memon said such retaliatory attacks proved that the police are actively pursuing the outlaws. He announced Rs25 million compensation for each of the martyred cops as well as two jobs for members of each of their families.

The IGP also attended the passing out parade at the police commandos training center in Sakrand, Shaheed Benazirabad. While addressing the event he emphasized on the need of providing training to the trainers. "We want to improve training standards and resources but prior to that we need to train the instructors." As many as 521 recruits complete their elite training course of three months on the occasion.

Encounter

A suspected outlaw wanted by the police was killed along with his young son in an encounter by Sukkur district police on Wednesday. The SSP Sukkur Azhar Mughal claimed that Sultan Shah was booked in 45 cases and his son Hubdar Shah in six.

According to him, prior to the encounter Shah and his son shot and injured three persons, including a woman and a cop in a motorbike snatching incident in the limits of Rohri police station. The police chased the escaping suspects and the chase ended in an exchange of fire in which the two suspects were gunned down. The police had announced Rs2.5 million on Sultan.
