Young food delivery rider crushed to death
A 20-year-old food delivery rider died in a road crash in North Nazimabad on Wednesday evening.
The victim, identified as Babar, fell on the road after being struck by a car near Mazedar Haleem restaurant in the Landi Kotal area. Moments later, a truck, which was reportedly carrying steel rods, ran over him, killing him on the spot. Rescuers shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Timuria police station SHO Qaiser Imtiaz confirmed that the truck driver was arrested, while the driver of the car fled the scene. The truck was impounded by police for further investigation.
Babar's family, who arrived at the hospital shortly after the incident, said that he was the third of four brothers and a resident of North Nazimabad, Sector 3. By day, Babar sold chips, and at night, he worked as an online food delivery rider to support his family.
His relatives have called on the Sindh government to ensure road safety and to address the growing concerns over reckless heavy vehicles operating within the city.
