'Truckanwala Ada' sealed
Investigation police on Thursday sealed Truckanwala Ada, the residence and business premises of the Ameer Balaj family, as part of an ongoing operation to trace Ameer Fateh, a key suspect in the high-profile murder of Javed Butt, brother-in-law of slain underworld figure Teefi Butt.
A special team from the Investigation Wing raided the terminal and ordered an immediate halt to all business activity. Workers were directed to vacate the premises, while police secured the site to prevent any further operations.
Authorities confirmed that this was not the first police action at the terminal.
Earlier, investigators had detained three people, including two employees, for questioning. They were later released after providing a written assurance to produce the accused before the police. However, officials said the guarantor failed to fulfill the commitment, prompting the latest crackdown.
Sources revealed that the Lahore police are under mounting pressure to make headway in the case, given its link to Teefi Butt's network. Pressure reportedly intensified after Teefi himself was killed in a police encounter. A police spokesperson stated that the interim bail of the accused, Ameer Fateh, had already been cancelled by the court due to his repeated non-appearances.
