NBC’s Wicked: One Wonderful Night aired on November 6 2025, celebrating the upcoming film Wicked: For Good, which arrives in cinemas on November 21.

The televised special, filmed at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and streaming on Peacock, featured live performances from the film’s cast alongside original Broadway stars.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who play Glinda and Elphaba in the two-part film adaptation, took centre stage for an emotional duet of For Good.

Their performance was accompanied by original Wicked stars Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, uniting the film and Broadway generations in a single rendition. Stephen Schwartz, the show’s composer, arranged the piece and conducted a 37-piece orchestra.

Grande and Erivo performed face to face, their voices blending over the live orchestration as both appeared visibly moved. Audience members responded with a standing ovation, with many online describing the moment as a powerful connection between past and present versions of the story.

The special opened with Grande performing No One Mourns the Wicked, followed by Erivo’s rendition of The Wizard and I. The production featured an Emerald City-inspired stage design and participation from audience members, who waved green lights and props during key numbers.

Additional appearances included Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Bowen Yang and Ethan Slater, along with a preview of new songs written for the sequel film. The evening concluded with a duet of Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again, performed by Grande and Erivo.

Wicked: One Wonderful Night is now available to stream on Peacock.
