KARACHI:

The bodies of a man and his wife were recovered from their home in Federal B Area's Block 5 after midnight on Tuesday, in what police suspect could be murder-suicide triggered by a domestic dispute.

According to police, the body of the woman was found with her throat slit, while the man was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan. The couple were identified as 35-year-old Khuda Bakhsh, and 30-year-old Yasmeen, wife of Khuda Bakhsh.

Upon receiving information, police reached the scene and broke into the house, where they found both victims dead.

Forensic experts were called to collect evidence, and the bodies were later shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

A police spokesperson said that preliminary findings suggested a quarrel between the couple preceded the grisly discovery. Muhammad Hanif, the deceased woman's brother, told The Express Tribune that "they often had small arguments but nothing serious enough to suspect something like this."

Hanif recounted that around 10pm on Monday night, he had spoken to Yasmeen to say he and his wife planned to visit, but she told him to come in the morning instead. Around midnight, Hanif's nephew Rashid, the couple's elder son, arrived at his house and informed him that his parents were dead.

"When we reached their home, the room was locked from inside," Hanif said. "Rashid peered through the window and saw his father hanging from the fan and his mother lying in a pool of blood." The couple's two younger sons and daughter were reportedly asleep in the courtyard at the time of the incident.
