RAWALPINDI:

The Punjab Social Welfare Department is set to host a grand divisional ceremony on November 4 to distribute advanced assistive devices to persons with disabilities (PWDs) across the Rawalpindi Division.

Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Sohail Shaukat Butt will preside as the chief guest, while parliamentarians and senior officials are also expected to attend the event. The ceremony will additionally mark the launch of the third phase of the flagship Himmat Card initiative, which provides quarterly financial assistance of Rs 10,500 directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts.

Rukhsana Mazhar Awan, Focal Person and Deputy Director of Social Welfare for Rawalpindi Division, confirmed that all preparations for the event had been finalised.

"Around 75 PWDs from across the division will receive high-quality assistive devices such as motorised wheelchairs, tri-motorcycles, and manual wheelchairs," she said.
