Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday vowed to extend full cooperation to the provincial government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) to maintain peace and eliminate terrorism from the province.

Addressing a public gathering in district Chitral, the prime minister congratulated K-P Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on his election and assured him of full cooperation in combating terrorism and maintaining peace. "I hope he will accept my offer and together we will work for the development and prosperity of the country," he said.

The prime minister announced a comprehensive development package for Chitral district, covering education, health, and energy sectors.

The projects include the construction of a hospital in Upper Chitral, a modern hospital and a university by the federal government, besides completion of major highways including the Chitral-Mastung-Shandur Road. He added that access to the Lower Tunnel had also been completed.

The Prime Minister further assured the people that the federal government would address the issue of electricity tariffs in the area, while students from Chitral would be included in the federal Laptop Scheme.

He recalled that a day earlier, he had announced 100,000 laptops for youth in Islamabad.

Sharif lauded the efforts of the armed forces under the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir for foiling India's nefarious designs recently, while paying tribute to the Pakistan Air Force and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu for safeguarding the country's aerial frontiers.

Earlier, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Danish School System in Chitral, spread over 148 kanal of land, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and separate campuses for male and female students.

He said the initiative was part of his vision to provide quality education and modern facilities to the people of remote areas including Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral.

He added that the school would provide free-of-cost education along with boarding and lodging facilities to deserving students.

Terming Chitral one of the most beautiful areas of K-P, the Prime Minister praised the bravery and patriotism of its people and people of KP, saying their contributions towards national development would always be remembered.
