Two killed in Kohat

PESHAWAR: At least two people were killed and four injured in a roadside explosion in Kohat on Sunday, police sources said.

The bomb, planted in Ibrahim Khel village, went off when a passenger pick-up van ran over it. Two people were killed on the spot and were identified as Shah Wali and Nasir Bangash, while the injured were rushed to a hospital where their condition was stated to be critical.

An investigation was initiated soon after the incident and the area was cordoned off.

Meanwhile, police arrested 78 proclaimed offenders who were wanted for various crimes. A huge quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from their possession in a search operation last month, DPO Sajjad Khan said on Sunday.

Briefing reporters about the Kohat police’s performance in the month of June, Khan said that 21 Klashnikovs, four Kalakovs, four rifles, 26 guns, 86 pistols, 5, 785 rounds, 17 hand- grenades, 11 bombs, 91 bottles of liqour and a huge quantity of narcotics were seized in the month-long operation.
