Report confirms torture in Gawalmandi case

RAWALPINDI:

Significant progress has been made in the case involving the torture and chaining of a man after being stripped naked in the Gawalmandi area of City Police Station. The medical examination of the victim has confirmed signs of severe torture, while police have visited the crime scene, prepared a detailed site map, and decided to send all related video evidence for forensic analysis.

A senior police officer involved in the investigation, speaking to The Express Tribune on condition of anonymity, said that the Rawalpindi police's investigation team, assisted by forensic experts, conducted a thorough inspection of the Gawalmandi crime scene and documented key details that will play a crucial role in bringing the investigation to its logical conclusion. The team was led by City Circle Investigation Inspector Muhammad Aamir Khalid.

According to sources, the team also held an extensive interview with the victim, Muhammad Haris, to gather details about the incident. His medical examination was conducted at the District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors confirmed 19 torture marks on his body. The preliminary medical report also confirmed that one of the victim's fingers had broken and healed improperly, with doctors suggesting that surgery may be required to correct it.

Police sources added that 28 X-rays were performed during the examination, and a detailed medical report will soon be finalised to be included in the case file.
