American actress Sydney Sweeney stepped out at the AFI Fest screening of her upcoming biopic Christy and turned heads with a striking new hairstyle. The 28-year-old star unveiled a fresh bob cut dyed a pale, icy blonde tone, a departure from her previously long, golden locks.
The transformation was a week in the making. Celebrity hairstylist Glen Coco Oropeza handled the precision cut, while colourist Jacob Schwartz delivered the unique ‘bleached suede blonde’ hue, designed to brighten her existing ‘dark suede blonde’ and elevate the look for the premiere.
Sweeney attended the premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre on 25 October 2025, wearing a baby-pink custom lace gown by Miu Miu, accessorised with silver jewellery and understated makeup that allowed her new hair to steal the spotlight.
This hairstyle change aligns with her evolving career trajectory. In Christy, Sweeney portrays legendary boxer Christy Martin, who rose to prominence in the 1990s. The film, directed by David Michôd, is scheduled for theatrical release on 7 November 2025 and already has generated buzz with its red-carpet participation.
For fans and followers of celebrity style, the look is more than a haircut, it reflects Sweeney’s readiness for a new era. The ‘Bob’ haircut and platinum tone are both current trends, and Sweeney’s version positions her at the intersection of glamour and transformation. Her decision to debut this look at the Christy premiere suggests she’s embracing a bold visual identity as she moves further into leading roles and film-driven work.
Brands and stylists have noted that the colour technique involved multiple steps: lifting the base, applying highlights, blending roots, and finishing with a light balayage to create soft dimension, especially important to keep the platinum blond from appearing flat.
