The Health department announced that it has completed over 60 to 70 per cent fumigation to protect against the dengue virus in the district.
Health department officials said that the fumigation was completed with the logistical support of the World Health Organisation (WHO). “The WHO provided the logistic support of health materials and transportation needed to complete the drive on time,” stated EDO (Health) Dr Inamul Haq at a press briefing on Wednesday. Nishtar hospital staff Dr Farhan Khan and Dr Attaur Rehman, surveillance officer and focal person for Disease Early Warning System (DEWS) of WHO were also present on the occasion. The EDO stated that so far 101 dengue cases had been brought to Nishtar Hospital and 74 had been discharged after recovery.
He said that 31 cases were confirmed as negative for the virus and shifted to isolation rooms. However, two patients were still waiting on lab test reports to confirm the diagnosis.
Medical superintendent (MS) hospital Dr Zafar Alwi said that a complete ward comprising of 30 beds had been reserved for dengue affected patients.

I am very sorry to say that nobody cares for this country. Are we insane? Dengue can never be controlled by fumigation's in the open environment. Fumigation has got a psychological impact only.
