ISLAMABAD:

Switzerland's Ambassador to Pakistan, George Steiner, has said that friendly relations between the two countries have been longstanding and continue to strengthen with time.

He emphasised that boosting bilateral trade remains a key priority and that there is immense potential for cooperation in tourism, medicine, and agriculture.

Speaking to The Express Tribune during a visit to Islamabad's Angoori suburb, the envoy said Switzerland and Pakistan have strong economic collaboration and are determined to expand mutual engagement and partnerships.

He added that several Swiss companies are already operating in Pakistan and that Switzerland ranks as the third-largest foreign investor in the country.

Ambassador Steiner said he had visited Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and the northern areas, describing Pakistan as a beautiful and diverse country - Lahore for its history, Karachi for trade, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for its geography.

He expressed optimism that bilateral trade could expand into more sectors and that more Swiss firms would invest in Pakistan.
