Asad Mehmood says govts are puppets

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) central leader and former federal minister Maulana Asad Mehmood said the current provincial and federal governments have utterly failed and are not operating as representatives of the people.

Speaking at a rally in Dera Bala, he said that when a chief minister cannot appoint a deputy commissioner in his own district, it is not democracy but the worst form of slavery.

He said JUI-F rejected such servitude and praised Maulana Mufti Mehmood, who had relinquished his government to defend the Constitution, democracy and national dignity during General Ayub Khan's era, refusing to compromise on his principles.
