Death penalty handed down in murder case
Two in separate drug cases receive 18 years rigorous imprisonment

The session courts in Rawalpindi handed down the death penalty to a convict in a murder case and sentenced two drug traffickers to a combined 18 years of rigorous imprisonment on Friday.
The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Rawalpindi, awarded the death sentence to Shafaat Hussain, the convict in the notorious Dhamial murder case, along with a fine of Rs400,000. In its judgment, the court observed that taking a human life is a grave and detestable crime, ordering that the convict be hanged by the neck until death.
According to the prosecution, the convict brutally stabbed a young man to death over a minor personal dispute. The case had been registered at Dhamial Police Station in July 2024.
Following the verdict, City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani commended the SSP Investigation and the investigation and legal teams for their effective handling of the case.
In two separate narcotics smuggling cases, the Additional District and Sessions Judge, Gujar Khan, sentenced two convicts to a total of 18 years' imprisonment and imposed fines totalling Rs160,000.
Muhammad Sinan was sentenced to nine years in prison and fined Rs. 80,000 after being convicted of possessing 1.23 kilograms of hashish. He was arrested by Gujar Khan Police in July 2023.
