Capital cracks down on encroachments

ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad's district administration removed roadside encroachments from four major sectors and detained 14 people involved. The action was carried out in sectors F-6, F-7, I-8 and I-9, as part of an ongoing campaign to clear public spaces.

Citizens have been urged to report any illegal setups in their areas. According to the district administration, inspection teams conducted operations in several parts of Islamabad, targeting roadside encroachments that were causing obstruction to traffic and pedestrians. During the crackdown, 14 individuals found responsible for setting up illegal stalls and structures were handed over to local police stations for legal action.

The operation covered key commercial and residential sectors, including F-6, F-7, I-8 and I-9, where unauthorised setups such as pushcarts, kiosks and makeshift stalls had been established along the roadsides. The teams removed all temporary structures and cleared the occupied spaces to restore smooth movement on main roads and service lanes.

Officials stated that these encroachments not only block public pathways but also create safety risks for motorists and pedestrians. The administration has directed its field staff to continue daily monitoring to prevent reestablishment of such illegal setups.
