Three of family among four killed in road crashes in Punjab

Speeding trailer truck rams into a motorcycle on Pattoki Multan Road, killing 35-year-old Waseem, and his two sons

PATTOKI:

Two separate road accidents in Pattoki on Sunday claimed the lives of four people, including three members of the same family, while four others sustained serious injuries, rescue officials said.

In the first incident, a speeding trailer truck rammed into a motorcycle on Pattoki Multan Road, killing 35-year-old Waseem, his two-year-old son Hameedullah, and four-year-old son Samiullah on the spot.

Waseem's wife, 30-year-old Rehana Bibi, was critically injured in the crash.

The eyewitnesses said the trailer was moving at high speed and the driver reportedly failed to notice the motorcycle ahead, resulting in the fatal collision.

Rescue 1122 teams reached the site immediately and shifted the bodies and the injured woman to a nearby hospital. The trailer driver fled the scene, while police have collected evidence and launched an investigation.

In another accident near Jagowala on Chunian Road, a rickshaw collided with a tractor, leaving 65-year-old Santo Bibi dead on the spot and injuring two others - 28-year-old Mujeeb and 38-year-old Javed. Both were shifted to the nearest hospital in critical condition.

Following the incidents, a wave of grief spread through the area. Local residents have urged authorities to take strict action against speeding drivers and enforce effective measures to prevent the rising number of traffic accidents on major highways.
