RAWALPINDI:

The Military Lands and Cantonments (MLC) Department has unveiled a set of reforms aimed at enhancing transparency, and public service delivery.

In a newly compiled report titled "Fixing the System, Fuelling the Future: Reforms of MLC, Initiatives and Transparency Transformation," the department detailed its institutional progress and governance overhaul carried out over the past two years.

The reform document was presented to Secretary Defence Lieutenant General Muhammad Ali, HI(M), who commended the efforts and described the report as a roadmap for the department's future course.

Under the leadership of Director General MLC Major General Irfan Ahmed Malik, HI(M), the department has implemented reforms focused on digital governance, financial transparency, human resource restructuring, and infrastructure modernisation. According to the report, these measures have introduced data-driven decision-making, performance-based accountability, and standardised policies aimed at fostering "pro-people and efficient local governance."

The department said the reform process remains ongoing, describing the past two years as a "diagnostic and corrective phase" that has already produced tangible improvements in operational efficiency and public trust.
