DERA GHAZI KHAN:

Commissioner Ashfaq Ahmad Chaudhry has said that the upcoming Thal Jeep Rally is an effort to promote cultural and sports activities across South Punjab.

Addressing a press conference at the Commissioner's Office alongside Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) officials, Chaudhry said the rally will not only provide quality entertainment to the people of the region but also help project a positive image of South Punjab.

He announced that the 10th Thal Jeep Rally will be held from November 6 to 9, 2025, with arrangements being finalized in Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, and Layyah districts. More than 100 national and international racers are expected to participate in 13 categories, including a newly introduced desert bike race.

"The rally's 200-kilometre track will have its midpoint in Chobara, Layyah," Chaudhry said. "Alongside the race, cultural shows will be organised in Layyah and Muzaffargarh, while a major cultural fair will take place in Chobara to promote local heritage, traditions, and craftsmanship."

He added that all relevant departments have been directed to ensure comprehensive arrangements for security, sanitation, traffic management, accommodation, medical facilities, and water supply, so participants and visitors can enjoy a safe and memorable experience.

Event Manager Nauman Khan said the Thal Jeep Rally has now become Punjab's second-largest annual event, attracting over 100,000 visitors last year. "This year, international racers will join once again, and two separate races will be held under the women's category to ensure greater female participation," he noted.
