LAHORE:

Provincial Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has ordered strict surveillance of junkyards and cemeteries to prevent the spread of dengue mosquitoes. Chairing a meeting of the Punjab Cabinet Committee on Infectious Diseases, he said more efforts were needed during the dengue season in high-risk areas.

Provincial Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir said water should not be allowed to stagnate at construction sites, and the commissioners and deputy commissioners should monitor anti-dengue operations themselves. He directed the cooperative housing societies to monitor the dengue situation in their areas and send questionnaires about dengue to their residents. The ministers said the data of confirmed dengue patients should be updated immediately so that timely steps can be taken after assessing the situation. Indoor and outdoor dengue surveillance should be carried out diligently. Leaflets should be distributed in schools and colleges for awareness every fortnight. Khawaja Salman Rafique said attendance of field staff should be ensured at all times. Third-party evaluation should be done after each training session so that a capable workforce can be created.
