ISLAMABAD:

Pakistani viewers can now bid farewell to borrowing overseas logins or waiting for shows through complicated channels, as HBO Max has officially launched in the country, bringing blockbuster content directly to local fingertips.

Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming service, HBO Max, has officially launched in 15 new markets, including Pakistan, marking a significant expansion of the platform's global reach.

The rollout, which also covers Bangladesh, Cambodia, Macau, Sri Lanka, and Ukraine, brings some of the most acclaimed titles in television and film to new audiences across Asia and Europe.

The launch marks the first time Pakistani viewers can officially access HBO Max through its website and mobile app stores. The service combines a vast library of content from HBO, Max Originals, Warner Bros., DC Universe, Discovery, and the Wizarding World franchises, offering an all-in-one entertainment hub for subscribers.

Fans in Pakistan can now stream globally celebrated series such as 'Game of Thrones', 'House of the Dragon', 'The Last of Us', 'The Penguin', and 'The Pitt'.

The platform's film catalogue includes major Hollywood blockbusters from Warner Bros.' archives, including 'Superman', 'The Lord of the Rings', 'The Matrix' series, and the 'Harry Potter' films.

Family favourites and animation classics like 'Tom and Jerry', 'The Amazing World of Gumball', and 'Looney Tunes' are also available.

HBO Max's upcoming lineup is set to expand further with the release of 'IT: Welcome to Derry', premiering on October27. The highly anticipated prequel to Stephen King's horror universe is created by Andy and Barbara Muschietti alongside Jason Fuchs.

Other major releases expected in the coming months include 'M3GAN 2.0', 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning', 'How to Train Your Dragon', and 'Weapons'.

For fans of classic sitcoms, HBO Max has confirmed that 'Friends' and 'The Big Bang Theory' will join its library in January 2026. The platform also hosts Discovery's popular reality shows such as 'Deadliest Catch' and 'Gold Rush', adding to its diverse range of programming.

Pakistani users can choose between two subscription plans. The Standard Plan, priced at Rs800 per month or Rs5,600 annually, allows streaming on two devices simultaneously in Full HD and includes up to 30 downloadable titles for offline viewing. The Premium Plan, costing Rs1,100 monthly or Rs7,700 annually, supports up to four devices, offers 4K Ultra HD and Dolby Atmos (where available), and permits up to 100 offline downloads.

Subscribers can create up to five personalised profiles, including child-friendly accounts with parental controls. The platform supports a wide range of devices, including LG and Samsung smart TVs, and enables users to continue streaming while travelling in other regions where HBO Max operates.

With its official entry into Pakistan, HBO Max joins an increasingly competitive streaming landscape already populated by Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+, promising to broaden viewing choices and intensify competition in the country's rapidly growing digital entertainment market.
