Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed that the establishment of a strong and viable Palestinian state, based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, remains and will continue to remain the foundation of Pakistan’s policy on the Middle East.

The prime minister departed for Pakistan after concluding his two-day visit to Sharm El-Sheikh, where he attended the Gaza Peace Summit held in Egypt. Egypt’s Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fouad Hanno, bid farewell to the prime minister and the Pakistani delegation.

Before his departure, in a message posted on X, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed some reflections on what he described as a potentially transformative moment and Pakistan’s deep and historic connection to it.

He stated that Pakistan’s foremost priority has been to immediately halt the genocidal campaign being imposed on Gaza. This objective has been consistently voiced and reinforced in coordination with other brotherly nations.

He also extended appreciation to President Trump, expressing hope that he will act to stop the violence and fulfill his commitment in this regard.

The prime minister further emphasised that Pakistan will continue to acknowledge President Trump’s unique role in the pursuit of peace. The freedom, dignity, and prosperity of the Palestinian people hold fundamental significance for Pakistan.
