Family Matters actor Darius McCrary has been arrested near the U.S.-Mexico border in California on an out-of-state felony warrant, according to law enforcement records obtained by TMZ.
The 48-year-old actor, best known for his role as Eddie Winslow on the beloved 1990s sitcom, was reportedly taken into custody by the United States Border Patrol on Sunday and is currently being held in a San Diego jail.
Court documents describe McCrary’s situation as a “fugitive arrest,” meaning he was detained in California for charges pending in another state. The records cite a section of the California Penal Code that applies to individuals wanted elsewhere for serious crimes.
According to McCrary’s representative, Ann Barlow, the warrant was issued out of Michigan after the actor allegedly missed a court appearance related to unpaid child support. This is not the first time McCrary has faced legal trouble over child support — he was previously arrested in 2015 and again in 2023 for similar offenses.
McCrary’s ongoing legal issues stem from his divorce from ex-wife Tammy Brawner, which was finalized in 2019 after a lengthy two-year battle. As part of the divorce settlement, McCrary was ordered to pay $1,366 per month in child support to Brawner, a former Harlem Globetrotter.
While McCrary has not publicly commented on his latest arrest, fans have expressed concern on social media, recalling his successful television career and later personal struggles. His next court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
