ABBOTTABAD:

The staff of the Abbottabad Wildlife Division has foiled an attempt to smuggle 20 black scorpions and arrested four suspects involved in the illegal trade of endangered species.

According to a spokesperson of the Wildlife Department, the operation was carried out during a routine search at the Forest Check Post in Sillhad. Upon inspection, 20 black scorpions were recovered from the possession of the suspects, who were immediately taken into custody.

The officials promptly registered a case against the accused under the relevant provisions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife and Biodiversity Act, 2015. The spokesperson further highlighted that scorpions and other rare species are often targeted by traffickers due to their high demand in international markets.
