Universal Pictures’ highly anticipated sequel Wicked: For Good is already making history before its official release.
Starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, the film has shattered records for first-day ticket pre-sales, becoming the highest-selling PG movie launch in Fandango’s history.
According to Film Updates, the movie not only topped PG film pre-sales but also entered Fandango’s top 10 list of all-time first-day ticket sellers. Wicked: For Good is set to premiere in theaters on November 21, 2025, and promises new music while continuing the magical story introduced in the 2024 hit Wicked.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, the sequel also stars Jonathan Bailey, Marissa Bode, Ethan Slater, and Jeff Goldblum. Both Erivo and Grande are gearing up for an extensive press tour, with promotions already underway across social media. Tickets officially went on sale on October 8, with the movie’s Instagram account encouraging fans to share who they’ll be seeing it with.
The film will be released in multiple formats, including IMAX, Dolby, ScreenX, and 4DX. Amazon Prime members will also have access to early screenings starting November 17.
The first Wicked movie became a cultural phenomenon, grossing $734 million worldwide on a $145 million budget and earning 10 Oscar nominations — including Best Actress for Erivo and Best Supporting Actress for Grande. With Wicked: For Good already breaking records ahead of release, expectations are sky-high for the next chapter of Oz’s spellbinding saga.
