KARACHI:

The recent spell of monsoon rains has turned into a blessing for fishermen along Sindh's coast, as the influx of freshwater into the sea has led to a remarkable rise in fish and shrimp populations.

Following the rains, rivers and streams carried freshwater into the Arabian Sea, creating a highly favorable environment for marine life. Fishermen from Karachi's Ibrahim Hyderi, Mubarak Village, Keti Bandar, and Badin reported a surge in their catch, saying the sea now teems with fish after weeks of closure due to stormy weather.

Dozens of boats and launches have set out once again for deep-sea fishing, and crews are hopeful of returning with a bountiful haul. "Freshwater gives life to the sea," one fisherman remarked, adding that it brings renewed hope for coastal families whose livelihoods depend on fishing.

According to the fishermen, the recent conditions have effectively doubled the average catch compared to normal days, signaling a promising season ahead for Sindh's fishing communities.
