Family returning from US robbed at doorstep

The spate of robberies targeting passengers arriving from abroad shows no signs of abating. In a recent incident in Buffer Zone, armed thieves in a car snatched a travel bag containing cash and valuables from a family returning from the US. The robbery was captured on video and went viral on social media.

According to the Temuria Police, a case has been registered in connection with the incident. SHO Temuria said that the family, arriving from the airport, was being followed by a car-borne gang. One of the masked gunmen alighted from the car near the family and snatched a travel bag containing USD 1,200, mobile phones, and other items, before fleeing the scene.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage from cameras in the area to identify the culprits and track the vehicle used in the crime. The video shows a white sedan carrying the robbers arrives. One suspect disembarks with a firearm and enters the alley. The taxi reverses into the lane, while the robber pauses near a corner. The robber abandons his attempt momentarily, returns to the car, and alongside accomplices flees the scene.
