The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Peshawar district organization has released a fact-finding report on the party's September 27 rally in Peshawar, revealing serious lapses in management, planning, and coordination.
According to the report, the event, organized on the direction of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, was intended to be a peaceful protest against ongoing unrest, constitutional violations, and human rights abuses in the country. It also aimed to condemn political victimization of PTI leaders and workers and to demand Imran Khan's immediate release.
The three-member inquiry committee found multiple organizational and administrative flaws that, it said, undermined the purpose of the event. The Peshawar district body was not given any formal role in managing the rally, which led to confusion and lack of coordination. The report stated that the command system was unclear, resulting in mismanagement during the event.
Poor sanitation, garbage, and dust created an unpleasant environment, while the presence of stray dogs posed safety risks to attendees.
The report also highlighted the unethical conduct of some police personnel, particularly toward women and journalists.
One of the key findings of the report concerned the conduct of Chief Minister's spokesperson Faraz Mughal, who allegedly issued 100 unauthorized special passes after falsely presenting himself as the CM's focal person. His behavior toward senior party workers was described as disrespectful and unprofessional.
