Eric Dane, the 52-year-old Grey’s Anatomy star best known for his role as Dr. Mark Sloan, shared a brief message of encouragement with fans while using a wheelchair amid his ALS diagnosis.

Spotted at an airport in Washington, DC, Dane responded to a paparazzo asking about his health, saying, “Keep the faith, man,” and added, “Thank you, brother,” when told fans were sending well wishes.

The actor, known for his role as Dr. Mark Sloan, was pushed through the airport by an aide, dressed in a black jacket and pants with white sneakers.

Dane announced his diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in April 2025. ALS is a progressive nervous system disease affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to loss of muscle control and currently has no cure.

Earlier this year, Dane appeared in a TikTok video with California Congressman Eric Swalwell to discuss ALS and the importance of access to clinical trials and innovative treatments.

Dane expressed his determination to fight the disease, saying, “I wanna see [my daughters] graduate college, get married, maybe have grandkids. I wanna be there for all that. So, I’m gonna fight until the last breath on this one.”

Dane and his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, share two daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13. Despite his diagnosis, Dane has continued acting, attending the June premiere of his Prime Video series Countdown, though he missed his planned Emmys appearance.

He previously told People, “I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter. I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to set of Euphoria next week. I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time.”
