CD Projekt has officially delayed the highly anticipated Witcher 3 patch that was set to introduce cross-platform mod support across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S later this year.
Originally announced as part of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's 10th anniversary celebrations, the update promised to make creating, sharing, and enjoying mods easier and more accessible than ever before. However, in a new update, the studio confirmed that the patch has now been pushed to 2026, with no specific release window provided.
“We apologize for the delay and will share more details as we get closer to the release,” said CD Projekt in a statement. “Thank you for your patience!”
Alongside the delay news, CD Projekt also marked a major sales milestone for The Witcher 3. Joint CEO Adam Badowski reflected on the game's legacy, stating:
“Without a doubt, the third part of Geralt’s adventures marks a pivotal point in our history. The game earned hundreds of awards and solidified our studio’s standing, but more importantly, it brought untold hours of adventures and emotions to millions of gamers the world over.”
He also confirmed that The Witcher 3 has now sold over 60 million copies, placing it among the bestselling games of all time, and reaffirmed the studio’s commitment to the franchise’s future. Work on the next installment, The Witcher 4, is in full production, but it’s not expected to launch until 2027 at the earliest.
