Major reshuffle in Sindh cabinet

Nasir Shah to replace Saeed Ghani as local govt minister

In a major reshuffle, the Sindh government has changed the portfolios of key ministers while also inducting new members into the cabinet, including a minister, an adviser, and four special assistants.

According to the official notification issued on Friday, the Local Government portfolio has been withdrawn from Saeed Ghani and handed over to Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, who will retain his Energy Ministry as well.

Saeed Ghani has now been assigned the Labour and Human Resource Department. Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro has been given the additional charge of the Planning and Development Department, while Makhdoom Mehboob Zaman has been allotted the Food Department.

Later in the evening, Muhammad Ismail Rahu took oath as a provincial minister at a ceremony held at Governor House. Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori administered the oath in the presence of Chief Minister Sindh and cabinet members.

The ceremony was attended by provincial ministers, advisers, opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Ali Khurshidi, MQM parliamentary leader Iftikhar Alam, IGP Sindh and senior officials. On this occasion, Chief Secretary Sindh also announced the appointment of Gayan Chand Essrani as Adviser to the Chief Minister. Essrani has been given the Rehabilitation Department portfolio.

Meanwhile, four new special assistants to the Chief Minister have also been appointed. The newly inducted SACMs include Faraz Abid Lakhani, Shyam Sundar, Atta Muhammad Panhwar, and Tariq Hassan. Additionally, portfolios were assigned to other special assistants: Ali Rashid was given the Information Technology Department, Sarfaraz Rajar the Antiquities Department, Abdul Jabbar Khan the Relief Department, and Shyam Sundar the Minorities Affairs Department. Under the reshuffle, Dr Lal Chand's Minorities Affairs portfolio has been withdrawn.
