DERA ISMAIL KHAN:

At least 13 members of the same family, including five women and a child, were killed in a tragic road accident on Friday after their vehicle's brakes failed near Danasar in Darazinda, on the highway linking Dera Ismail Khan with Quetta.

The family was travelling from Khanozai, Balochistan, to DI Khan, when their vehicle went out of control because of brake fail and overturned. Rescue 1122 officials said 13 people died on the spot, while three others sustained injuries.

The deceased included 27-year-old Darya Khan, 25-year-old Ahmed, and 10-year-old Yousaf. Rescue teams shifted seven bodies to hospital, while locals helped transport six others. The injured were given first aid before being moved to the District Headquarters Hospital in DI Khan.

Following the tragedy, the bodies were handed over to the relatives after medico-legal formalities. Later, the victims were laid to rest in their ancestral graveyard after funeral prayers attended by large numbers of mourners.

Rescue officials confirmed the crash was caused by brake failure, a common hazard on the hilly stretch of the highway connecting Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa with Balochistan.
