PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, on Monday chaired a meeting at the Chief Minister's Secretariat to review the six-month performance of the Healthcare Commission.

The meeting was attended by Advisor to the CM on Health, Ehtesham Ali, Secretary Health Shahidullah, and senior officials of the Health Department and Healthcare Commission. Officials presented a detailed briefing on the Commission's performance from January to June 2025, noting that all directives issued in the previous session had been implemented.

According to the briefing, the Commission's capacity was strengthened with the recruitment of 24 new inspectors and the establishment of 10 regional offices. The provincial cabinet has also approved licensing rules to reinforce the Commission's legal framework. As of December 2024, 18,911 private health facilities were registered across the province, with an additional 1,218 facilities registered in the past six months.

Between January and June, the Commission conducted 7,474 inspections, issued notices to 2,692 facilities, temporarily sealed 1,218, and permanently shut down 395. Fines were imposed on 977 facilities found in violation of regulations. In addition, 448 public complaints were received during the period, all of which were addressed. The Commission also carried out a large-scale awareness campaign targeting both the public and service providers.

Expressing satisfaction over the progress, CM Gandapur directed further improvements in regulation and oversight. He emphasized that public health remains a top priority of his government and warned that substandard and illegal health facilities would not be tolerated. He further instructed that while strict action must continue against violators, quality private institutions operating within the law should be fully supported
