Taylor Swift’s security team has reportedly increased protections after Brian Jason Wagner, a man accused of stalking the singer, went missing despite court-ordered attempts to locate him. According to a report by the Daily Mail, Wagner, 45, of Colorado, was issued a temporary restraining order in June 2024 following allegations of harassment and false claims that Swift was the mother of his child.
Legal documents indicate Wagner failed to respond to multiple contact attempts, leading a judge to extend the restraining order into late September. Private investigator Brooke Berg, hired by Swift’s team, stated in a court declaration that Wagner had ignored numerous calls and messages, refused to confirm his location, and may be deliberately evading authorities. Wagner reportedly uses services like TextNow to obscure his identity and regularly changes his phone number.
During a brief phone exchange in August, Wagner denied being involved in any legal issues and refused to disclose his whereabouts. Berg claims he made disturbing statements, including that he was “supposed to live at [Swift]’s house and work for her,” and suggested that the restraining order had “ruined” his life, ending the call with the unsettling remark that he was “going to have to do something about her.”
Swift’s legal team alleges Wagner has filed fraudulent paperwork with the DMV, attempting to list her Los Angeles residence as his own and redirect her mail. He is also accused of showing up at her home on three occasions in July, once carrying a glass bottle. Swift has stated under oath that she has never met Wagner and requested he stay at least 100 yards away.
Sources close to Swift describe the ordeal as seriously affecting her day-to-day life. In response to the threat, her security protocols have been upgraded to include the use of bullet-resistant shields.
