Sylvester Stallone has opened up about his career, upcoming projects, and even a bold idea he once had for the Rambo franchise.
Speaking on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast, the Oscar-nominated actor discussed his Paramount+ series Tulsa King, his upcoming memoir The Steps, and his reaction to Peter Farrelly’s planned Rocky making-of drama I Play Rocky.
Stallone admitted he was surprised to learn about Farrelly’s film, which recounts his journey in getting Rocky made. “I was shocked to read about it. I have zero to do with it,” he said, though he noted that his memoir might allow him to contribute perspective since it details his struggles arriving in New York in 1969 and eventually winning acclaim at the Oscars.
But the bigger revelation came when Stallone spoke about Rambo. While a Vietnam War origin film starring Noah Centineo and directed by Jalmari Helander is already in the works, Stallone disclosed that he once pitched his own idea for a prequel — using artificial intelligence. “Everyone thought I was crazy,” he said, explaining that AI technology could convincingly de-age him to portray Rambo at 18.
Stallone also reflected on the difficulty of recasting iconic roles, saying, “It’s very, very hard. You’re always fighting prejudice against the original.”
For now, Stallone remains focused on his own projects. With Tulsa King confirmed for a fourth season and The Steps on the horizon, the actor continues to shape his legacy — whether or not Hollywood embraces his AI vision for Rambo.
