The mother of a man killed in the MA Jinnah Road firecracker warehouse explosion has filed a compensation suit against the Sindh government and the warehouse owners in the court of the Senior Civil Judge, South.
The plaintiff, Naz Begum, mother of deceased Kashif, has sought Rs67.3 million in damages. The claim, filed through Advocate Usman Farooq, argues that the case falls under the Fatal Accidents Act and holds both the Sindh government and the warehouse owners liable for negligence.
The tragic incident occurred on August 21, when an illegal firecracker warehouse on MA Jinnah Road exploded. Kashif, who had stepped out to get food from a private hospital adjacent to the warehouse where he had been with his father, was killed in the blast.
The suit states that the gross negligence of the warehouse and factory owners directly caused the death of the applicant's son. It demands that the responsible parties pay Rs67.3 million in damages to the bereaved family.
